Job Description
As a Buyer, you will be accountable for providing a complete offering for our customers.
You will develop and implement brand strategies successfully across all stores; achieving budgeted sales, planned stocks and productivity KPI’s.
Being a Buyer at Ballantynes is a varied and exciting role. You will be responsible for:
- Managing the procurement of merchandise for your area, sourcing the latest exclusive stock, ensuring orders match anticipated demand.
- Engage proactively with key suppliers, managing the relationship and building mutually beneficial strategies to grow sales.
- Developing and implementing promotional plans to maximise overall category and department sales.
- Successfully managing sales and stock levels against Budgets.
- Leading and supporting the Purchasing Assistant and Planner to enable delivery of the buying strategy and budgets.
- To actively research the market, identifying and securing new sources of supply that will positively contribute to the business results and that are most relevant to the customer.
- Remain up to speed with the latest trends to understand what our customer wants.
- Actively participating in our events and magazines.
Successful candidate
Being a successful Buyer is a balance of art and science and requires trend awareness and analytical ability, negotiating skills and the drive to succeed.
We are seeking applicants with the following:
- Buying experience preferred.
- Proven commercial acumen
- Ability to interpret and analyse data, and use forecasting tools to aid decision making, competent Excel user.
- A customer driven focus.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong planning and time management skills.
- Great communication, confident presentation skills and negotiation skills.
- Experience motivating and developing a team.
- Experience with international sourcing would be preferred.
- Full driving license required and willingness to travel.

Additional Information
This is a permanent full time role working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
