THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity exists to join Nestlé as a Category Manager – Foods in New Zealand, covering a 12-month maternity leave.
Reporting to the Country Lead – Foods, you will lead the Category, Channel, and Revenue Management strategy for the Foods Business. You’ll work together with Marketing to shape breakthrough category innovation and lead the development of clear strategies and success plans tailored to each channel and customer.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF...
You will be responsible for leading the channel thinking of the Commercial team, taking responsibility for developing and implementing channel strategies. The role will also provide the opportunity to engage with Senior stakeholders across our business.
- Develop and adapt category strategies using shopper, channel, customer, and competitor insights
- Lead the creation and integration of channel strategies into customer plans, including investment and route-to-market approaches
- Translate shopper insights into practical actions that support customer and channel growth
- Monitor competitor activity across channels and identify opportunities for competitive advantage
- Drive Commercial Planning (ICP) process, ensuring cross-functional alignment, timely execution and ensuring strategies are reflected in broader business planning
- Apply revenue management principles to shape trade spend frameworks and recommend optimal budgets
- Guide annual channel category planning and ensure alignment with commercial goals
- Develop promotional guidelines and compelling category stories to support execution
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

- Min 4 years of experience in category.
- Proven track record of delivering against key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Experience managing a category or channel within a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of sales functions including Customer Development, Field Sales, and Customer teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute effectively within cross-functional commercial teams
- Proficient in data analytics with hands-on experience using tools such as Power BI, Quantium & Dunhumby.
