About Us
The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, or the Mason Clinic as it is often known, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand. We serve the four Northern District Health Boards including all courts in the northern region and five prisons.
We deliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, culture specific programmes for Maori, court liaison and prison mental health services. This includes a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland.
This position will be based in our Kaupapa Māori Unit, Tane Whaka piripiri. Tane Whaka piripiri. is a minimum secure unit that is a mixed gender unit.
About the role
We are looking to recruit a Charge Nurse Manager to work in the Kaupapa Māori Stream. The purpose of the role is to provide operational management with clinical and cultural oversight to deliver quality care that is efficient and effective in terms of balancing the management of resources, with clinical and cultural models of care.

- RCpN, BHSC with a current APC as Registered Nurse.
- At least 5 years post registration practice in Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability
- Post Graduate Diploma or Masters in specialty nursing practice. Includes papers in leadership or management topics.
- Knowledge and practice of Te Reo Māori, me ona Tīkanga.
- Strong knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how this relates to health.
- Evidence of strong commitment to quality improvement and ability to lead quality initiatives.
