Hamilton City Council's City Safe Unit work together to ensure that Hamilton is a safe and vibrant City. City Safe Operations is made up of several teams, these are City Safe Officers, Suburban Response Team and Camera Operators.

We seek individuals to contribute towards a shared vision of a Safer Hamilton where people want to live, work, and participate. While recruiting for this role, we are aslo looking for potential CCTV Monitoring capabilities.
This is a highly rewarding and challenging field-based role, a chance to work together with people, and businesses. Our Safety Officers provide a visible presence and de-escalate issues and reduce the public exposure to nuisance behaviour from other users.
In this role you will be actively involve gaining compliance to the Safety In Public Spaces bylaw. While you will spend much of your time interacting with businesses and helping members of the public, the role requires you to deal with those causing anti-social and nuisance behaviour. Hamilton City Council provides extensive training and support to ensure you have the skills to perform these tasks.
Some Safety Officers also go on to monitor our CCTV network to provide a proactive response to issues as they happen. Those officers will also work with NZ Police to provide information and footage to help convict lawbreakers.
- Encourage positive compliance using a graduated response model
- Fully warranted to enforce the city bylaws
- Provide Safety Officer patrols within the Central City
Qualifications

- Flexible, responsive, and able to think on their feet
- Excellent communicator including written, verbal and listening skills
- Confident and professional
- Available to work 8 hours, 5-day rostered shifts over a 24/7 period
- Have a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn
- A full clean NZ driver licence

Remuneration for this position is $64,000 and this role is a permanent, full-time position.
