Colour & Graphic Designer

Mons Royale
Queenstown-Lakes District
Full time

At Mons Royale, we believe action and adventure sports can be a force for good. But most of the gear made for these sports is trashing the planet. That’s why we’re on a mission to shift riders from synthetics to natural fibres designing high-performance merino apparel that doesn’t mess up the places we love to play.

We’re looking for a Colour & Graphic Designer to lead the creative direction of our seasonal palettes and graphics bringing Mons Royale’s unique brand handwriting to life across every collection. You’ll define the colours, prints and visual details that connect our product stories to our customers, blending outdoor performance with a distinctive creative voice.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead seasonal colour strategy – build compelling, brand-relevant palettes for men’s, women’s and accessories.
  • Design seasonal graphics, trims, labels, patches and all-over prints that bring seasonal stories to life.
  • Research, forecast and interpret colour trends for the outdoor and action sports market.
  • Own the seasonal colour architecture and ensure monthly flow of colour across the collection designed for retail
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Creative Director, Apparel Designer and Product Manager to ensure cohesive storytelling from concept to consumer.
  • Approve lab dips and strike-offs to maintain perfect colour execution.

Process & Collaboration

  • Manage the design process from concept through to production handover, ensuring fit, function and style integrity.
  • Present design concepts to internal stakeholders with clarity and creative vision.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Development and Marketing to ensure product stories are consistent from concept to consumer.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • 4+ years in colour or graphic design within apparel, outdoor, or lifestyle brands.
  • Strong portfolio showing colour palettes, print design and brand identity in a commercial range.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop (Figma a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of colour theory, seasonal palette building and lab dip approval processes.
  • Creative, detail-oriented and inspired by outdoor performance and lifestyle culture.

Sponsorship for visa may be possible for the right candidate.

Benefits

Opportunity for Growth

Mons Royale is a fast-growing brand in the action and adventure sports space with lots of opportunities for career development, within and outside NZ.

Mountain town lifestyle and flexibility

We are based in mountain towns because we value time spent in the mountains and want to enable and encourage our team to achieve a work/life balance. While we do work hard and put in the hours, we also believe in the value of having a life outside of the workplace. This role will be based in our brand home, Wanaka.

We value people and our team

Company culture is important to us. We're often together in the mountains or catching up for a happy-hour bike ride. With offices in Squamish, Innsbruck and our hometown of Wanaka, Mons is comprised of a globally diverse workforce. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds and therefore all qualified applicants receive consideration for employment.

Embracing the entrepreneurial spirit

Being a part of a fast-growing brand means that there’s never a dull moment and that you’ll likely be involved in a lot of opportunities that may fall outside of your typical job description.

Competitive Salary and Discounts to fuel your passion

We offer competitive remuneration, discounted Mons Royale product and access to discounts across the outdoor industry.
