Bay Venues …. haven’t heard of us? Not to worry; I bet you've heard about some of the venues we run – the iconic Mount Hot Pools, Baywave, and Mercury Baypark to name just a few. As the kaitiaki of more than 20 community facilities in Tauranga Moana, we proudly offer a range of activities and experiences that connect our community and create memorable moments.
Our values of Manaakitanga (Service), Whakawhanaungatanga (Relationships), Kaitiakitanga (Caring) and He Toi Tangata (Excellence) are lived on the daily as we strive to enhance the wellbeing of the people we serve.
Are you a communications guru with an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling? We’ve got a role worth writing home about.
About the Role:
The Communications Specialist creates and coordinates impactful communications that keep our staff, customers and community updated and informed, while demonstrating and supporting Bay Venues’ purpose, values, and strategic priorities.
A key focus is multimedia storytelling – venturing out into the community to capture and share compelling stories that highlight the role our venues and staff play in people’s everyday lives, helping to foster connections and community cohesion.
The Communications Specialist will also provide support with internal and external stakeholder communications, as well as reporting requirements, and will help ensure the organisation’s reputation is enhanced via proactive media relations.
About You:
We are looking for someone with at least two years of industry experience, a relevant degree or qualification, and a portfolio full of multimedia stories that demonstrate your strong writing, editing, and photography skills.
You are a communications professional who always considers the key objectives and audience and tailors the messages and delivery accordingly. You approach each brief with creativity and originality and look for new and innovative ways to share information and increase engagement.
You should be just as comfortable sitting down with a complete stranger to interview and photograph them for a story, as you are knuckling down in the office to convert complex information into clear and concise messages for our staff, customers and community.
Proficiency in a range of communications tools and platforms is required, including Adobe photo editing software and the Microsoft suite.
A keen eye for detail is a crucial attribute and we are looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, considered, and highly organised. You should be capable of managing multiple deadlines and reacting swiftly to shifting priorities.
Collaboration is also key in our work environment, so the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the organisation while maintaining professional independence is essential. If you are driven, adaptable, and passionate about connecting our community through compelling communications, we would love to hear from you.
We have put together a bunch of perks to support our culture of connection and fun. These perks reinforce that we are part of the awesome leisure and events industry, and all the magic that comes along with that. Our benefits include:
- A free gym membership at our Clubfit gyms in Mount Maunganui and Greerton
- Free access to our five aquatic facilities including Baywave and the Mount Hot Pools
- Heavily subsidised coffee at our on-site cafes
- Access to a range of development opportunities through our Learning & Development programme Discounts on swimming lessons as well as our social sports leagues
So, why not join us? We have the right purpose to fuel meaningful careers, the right attitude to support work life balance, and the right leadership to foster an amazing culture. No matter what age and stage you are at, we are an inclusive bunch driven by our vision of creating The Best Venues for the Bay. Come on – take the punt; you won’t regret it!
