The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand's cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, and provide cyber security services to all New Zealanders - from individuals and small businesses and organisations up to large enterprises, government, and critical national infrastructure.
The role

As Team Leader Cryptographic Operations, you'll play a critical role in contributing to the security of New Zealand's most sensitive information. You'll be responsible for leading a small, agile team that provide vital cryptographic services and solutions to customers across New Zealand government.
Key responsibilities
Provide support to New Zealand customers for the provision of cryptographic services and solutions.
Mentor, develop and inspire your team to tackle operational challenges and ensure seamless service.
Champion growth by identifying opportunities for operational efficiency, process improvements and driving modernisation of our internal systems to maintain pace with evolving technology.
Build and maintain positive relationships and networks with international partners, collaborating organisations and domestic customers.

Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone with experience leading an operational team. You know how to motivate and guide teams to drive operational results. You will also bring:
Significant (8 years) relevant experience in one of the following:
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with peers, customers and stakeholders
The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and use sound judgement to solve complex operational challenges
Confidence to navigate change and lead your team through a changing technical environment
Whether your background is in cryptography, communications or helpdesk services, your experience in operations management and aptitude to learn will be key to your success in this role. In-house training will be provided to support the right person making this role their own.

You must:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
