As a Risk and Compliance Manager for FNZ New Zealand, you will be joining an established team of Risk and Compliance specialists who enables the business to safely achieve its strategic objectives while supporting growth and delivery of our services across our client base. Based in Wellington and reporting into our Head of Risk and Compliance, you will work in close partnership with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to best shape FNZ’s risk and compliance framework.
We are searching for a team member with experience in navigating complexities within a multinational organisation. To achieve success in this role, you need a solid understanding of NZ regulations coupled with meaningful risk experience, and a proven track record of success supporting management to understand key risks and navigate regulatory changes and internal transformations. A big part of this role is providing oversight and constructive challenge on all risk and compliance matters.
The responsibilities for this role include:
Implement and refine risk and compliance processes.
Where required, act as the representative of the Risk and Compliance function at relevant governance committees.
Assist in safeguarding and enhancing FNZ’s reputation with clients and regulatory bodies across New Zealand.
Provide risk and compliance oversight for significant change initiatives, ensuring that risks are identified and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist with the response to risk incidents and breaches, conducting thorough investigations, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Encouraging and driving quality and continuous improvement of processes.
Provide ongoing training to staff on risk and compliance standards, fostering a culture of awareness and accountability.
What are we looking for in a successful candidate:
Between 5 - 8 years’ experience in a comparable risk and compliance role, preferably within a platform or financial services environment.
University degree in law, commerce, science or equivalent from a reputable university. Relevant professional or industry qualifications in risk management, compliance, or a related field.
Strong understanding of regulatory obligations and risk frameworks applicable to the financial services industry.
Sound understanding of financial services industry risk and compliance best practices, with the ability to assist in implementing and enhancing frameworks accordingly.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex risk concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, with the ability to foster collaboration and trust.
Strong ability in analysing, presenting, and reporting risk information to senior stakeholders, facilitating informed decision making.
Can do attitude and a strong sense of ownership of workload, demonstrating a proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving.
Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
