Mō te tūranga | About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Contract Senior Data Analyst or Technical Systems Analyst to support the early stages of a high-impact project. This is a contract with a possibility of extension ideal for a hands-on problem solver with a passion for understanding complex business systems within the banking industry and driving data clarity across teams.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Partner with teams to translate RBNZ business requirements into Westpac system specifications
- Conduct deep data analysis to understand and resolve discrepancies
- Create clear and professional process models and diagrams
- Investigate how data systems interact and contribute to business workflows
- Participate in functional and user acceptance testing as needed
- Collaborate with engineering teams to write Functional Specifications and support data builds in Spark (DIP)
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst and/or Technical Systems Analyst
- Proficient in SQL and process modelling tools like Visio
- Solid analytical skills including problem-solving, building calculations, and resolving data issues
- Strong communication skills — you're confident speaking with stakeholders and explaining your findings clearly
- Documentation excellence and an eye for presenting information precisely
- Experience in software development cycles (SDLC) and writing technical specifications
- Familiarity with version control systems a plus
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or Computer Science
- Experience with SAS (moderate to advanced preferred)
- Has worked with Westpac data systems like NZDW, DIP, NZLO, ICE, or Credit Connect
- Comfortable contributing in a cross-functional team of around six members
- Banking industry experience highly regarded
