Our business is expanding and looking for a cook to work alongside us with our catering services within our commercial kitchen and food truck to provide a range of delicious food options. Our aim is to provide a wide range of catering food options to a wide range of clientele functions and events.
Hours will be based in a 7 day roster and rotating with split shifts and location to change depending on catering location needs and event requirements
Successful applicant must be reliable with the ability to work well under pressure in the fast paced kitchen environment and or small space when catering from the food truck for anything from smaller to large scale events. Fri - Sun availability is essential as these will be our busiest times and will make up part of the core hours.
Cooks are responsible for delivering food that is not only delicious and cooked to the specifications of the customer but that is safe and fresh as well. They following responsibilities will be as follows:
Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
Occasionally serve food
Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
Handle and store ingredients and food
Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils
Execute opening and closing procedures
Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
Monitor station inventory levels
Accommodate guests’ special requests
Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers
Hourly rate of $29.00 with guaranteed of 30 hours a week
Flexibility is important as the hours will be a rotating roster with shifts over 7 days, split shifts will be part of the hours and weekend work and public holidays
Experience within a working kitchen, food handling prep environment with presentation, packing and serving alongside operating kitchen equipment such as fryers, grills etc
