Job Description
The Online Team Leader – Technology Programmes is responsible for leading and supporting a team of online tutors delivering technology-related programmes . This role ensures high-quality academic delivery, student engagement and team performance across the online learning environments.
The Team Leader acts as the first point of contact for academic staff, provides coaching and mentoring, collaborates with academic and campus leadership to maintain delivery standards and drives continuous improvement in the learning experience.
This is a fully remote position with the flexibility to work from anywhere within New Zealand!
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Academic Support
- Provide day-to-day support and guidance to online tutors delivering technology programmes.
- Monitor tutor performance and engagement, offering regular feedback, coaching and support.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to share updates, best practices and address challenges.
- Support onboarding, training and professional development of new and existing team members.
- Effectively implement the Operating Rhythm with your team.
Programme Delivery & Quality Assurance
- Ensure programmes are delivered in alignment with approved curriculum and online delivery standards.
- Collaborate with Faculty Leader and Learning Designers to ensure programme content and assessments remain relevant and engaging.
- Ensure moderation and annual programme reviews are completed.
- Ensure Yoobee Colleges Policies and Procedures are followed in programme delivery.
- Support implementation of programme updates, assessment swaps and LMS changes.
Student Success & Engagement
- Monitor student progress, engagement, logins and outcomes across allocated programmes.
- Support tutors in responding to complex student queries, pastoral concerns or academic escalations.
- Work with Online Learning Support to identify and intervene early to assist at-risk learners.
- Promote inclusive and accessible teaching strategies, especially for neurodiverse and priority group learners.
- Act as a liaison between tutors, the Online Campus Manager, faculty leadership and support teams.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to enhance online teaching practices, learner experience, and team effectiveness.
- Support projects, innovations, and reviews of tools or teaching approaches relevant to online technology education.
- Champion a culture of professional learning and digital capability development within the team.
Qualifications
Required:
- Relevant qualification (e.g., Bachelor's in IT, Computer Science, or related field).
- At least 2–3 years experience in tertiary education, preferably in online delivery.
- 3-5 years leadership experience within an academic or education environment.
- Strong understanding of online learning pedagogy, digital tools and LMS platforms.
Desirable:
- Teaching or adult education qualification (e.g., Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching).
- Experience working with neurodiverse learners or inclusive teaching practices. Familiarity with NZQA standards and vocational education sector.
