E pā ana ki Te Whare Takiura o Manukau - Ngaahi me'a fekau'aki mo e Ako'anga Fakatekinikale 'o Manukau - About MIT

At MIT you will be at the forefront of changing lives by supporting akōnga (students) through their journey with us. We provide vocational education, with a strong vision of getting people into great jobs.

E pā ana ki te tūranga - Tuanga tatara i te angaanga - About the role

Our School of Health & Counselling is seeking a highly motivated Counsellor with a minimum of three years' practice experience (or significant equivalent counselling experience) who is a current member of NZAC or NZCCA. We are looking for someone who either has a background in teaching or is passionate about beginning a teaching career.

This role requires a Counsellor with strong knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to apply and teach across Counselling courses. A Master's qualification in counselling or a relevant field is preferred (or the applicant should be actively working towards one).

Mōu te take - E uiga ia te oe - About you:

You will bring strong organizational and time management skills, be a self-starter with a good sense of humour and have patience and flexibility. You will also have the ability to lead and work as part of a team and be adept at using your initiative. You will be research active in this role. You will need outstanding communication skills and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.

This is a Permanent role based primarily at our Manukau campus, however student placements visits may be required and you may be required to travel around the greater Auckland area so a current full NZ Drivers Licence will be essential. It would also be favourable to have a passion for creative and expressive modality.

Ahurea - Anga fakafonua - Culture:

At MIT you will work with some incredible people who are passionate about the positive impact we make to the communities we serve. We offer a work environment which values genuine people who care for others, are well-connected, open and approachable and strive for excellence in all we do. If you are excited by the role and feel you would fit well into our organisation, we would love to hear from you.

"Kua herea mātou ki te whai i te tūturutanga o Te Tiriti O Waitangi." We are committed to creating and maintaining a culturally sensitive work environment in relation to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

MIT is committed to ensuring our workforce reflects the diversity of our akōnga (students) and the rich cultures represented within the local community we serve. We know how important it is for our akōnga and kaimahi (staff) to have their culture and values reflected in our way of working and in the people we recruit. To support this, MIT seeks to grow the number of Māori and Pasifika kaimahi across our Institute and gives recognition to applicants who demonstrate Māori and/or Pasifika cultural knowledge and skills.
