Job description

On behalf of Opteon, a leading valuation business in Australasia, Assemble are recruiting for a Director of Operations New Zealand, to join their team here in Auckland. Opteon are a provider of independent, market leading valuation and property advisory services with over 80 offices across Australia and New Zealand and 700+ staff members, including over 500 valuers.

The Director of Operations – New Zealand is a key leadership role responsible for driving the successful execution of valuation projects, overseeing operational performance, and ensuring alignment with the strategic business plan within their Government & Advisory team. This role is primarily focused on project delivery, program management, team leadership, and client engagement.


In your new position you will work with the General Manager, National Director and Regional Directors in the company with key tasks including but not limited to:


  • lead the annual review of the Government & Advisory business unit strategy to ensure operational goals, delivery commitments, and customer outcomes are being met
  • Annually review, establish, and implement business unit goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures that drive efficient project delivery and high-performing team operations
  • Lead, scope, and price new tender opportunities, collaborating with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure compelling and commercially sound submissions
  • Lead the creation of annual project plans for all revaluation and financial reporting work
  • Ensure the right project structure is in place for each task, including resource and role clarity
  • At a National Level, lead quarterly customer meetings to report on project progress and performance against contractual KPIs.
  • Conduct biannual reviews of resourcing and succession planning within the business unit to ensure adequate coverage across all regions and disciplines
To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the following:


  • An NZ recognised tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an operational leadership role, preferably within the property industry
  • Professional membership with PINZ and/or RICS preferred
  • Above all else, you will be outcomes-driven, a strong communicator, and capable of aligning people, processes, and resources to meet strategic and commercial objectives.
