District Court Scheduler – Te Tai Tokerau District Courts

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

This position is located across Te Tai Tokerau District Courts and reports directly to a Service Manager. The District Court Scheduler will play a crucial role in ensuring that the Ministry remains dedicated to prioritizing and organising cases throughout the District Court jurisdictions. You will be tasked with coordinating court hearings across various courts within a Judicial Services Area (JSA). This presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate with outstanding individuals across multiple courts.

The role will involve close collaboration with Regional Scheduling Advisors to uphold court schedules and guarantee the seamless daily functions of scheduling within the Taitokerau Justice Service Area.

Additionally, this role will engage closely with Court Registry Officers, Managers, Judicial Officers, and external stakeholders. Such collaboration will ensure adherence to Our National Scheduling priorities, facilitate the effective prioritization of cases, and optimize the use of available hearing time. This position plays a vital role in enhancing workflow management and improving overall court performance.

The District Court Scheduler will be responsible for the following:

  • ensuring a consistent approach to scheduling of cases
  • supporting Ministry of Justice focus areas, specifically by prioritising and scheduling cases/hearings across a JSA
  • ensuring that the appropriate type and volume of work is scheduled
  • utilising courtroom and allocation of judicial resources efficiently
  • promoting consistent scheduling practices and use of technology
  • maintaining knowledge of facilities and scheduling issues for each court
  • working collaboratively with judicial officers, registry staff and stakeholders across multiple courts

This position will be based across any jurisdiction, however you will also be trained and asked to step in within other jurisdictions at the Court.

A full, clean drivers license is required as you may have to travel between Courts in the region.

To be successful in the role in this role you will have experience in customer service, both in front line and written capacities. To excel in this position, strong relationship management skills, adaptability, the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are essential, as well as act with tact and discretion. We are looking for someone who has a high level of resilience, flexibility within the workplace and is self-driven.

  • ability to speak a second language may also be of advantage
  • experience working in a scheduling or logistical operations position with competing priorities
  • experience and ease with the use of technology to support rostering and scheduling work across multiple functions and locations
  • excellent relationship skills and a strong service-oriented ethic
  • ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $66,066 and $90,008 based on skills and experience.
