To support our expanding operations, we are looking for a qualified or experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to join our growing team.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
You must meet one of the following:
- A New Zealand Level 5 qualification (or overseas equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
OR
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in the electrical engineering or cable jointing field
Job Description
As an Electrical Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in delivering technical support and on-site services to ensure reliable and compliant electrical installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, test, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components
- Perform low and high voltage cable jointing and terminations in accordance with New Zealand standards
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostic testing on electrical systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
- Support engineers in the design, commissioning, and upgrading of electrical installations
- Document and report maintenance activities and faults
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed on all worksites
- Liaise with clients, engineers, and project managers to meet job requirements and timelines
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- An ability to have a solid understanding of NZ electrical codes and safety practice
- Understanding of cable jointing (11kV and below highly desirable)
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems effectively
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Physically fit and able to work in varied environments
- EWRB registration (or ability to obtain) is a plus
