About the role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Electrical Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the design, development and enhancement of RPS medium-voltage switchgear products, ensuring that projects are completed within specified timelines and budgets.
This includes:
· contributing to design and enhancement of products and prototypes.
· providing information and support to Engineers on product, technical, and electrical engineering issues during tendering, manufacturing, installation, testing and in-service stages.
· Conducting internal testing, type testing, and sign off on electrical routine testing documentation.
· Ensuring all standards are maintained, and keep up to date with the latest IEC 62271 standards, implementing any necessary changes.
· Managing design requests and CT designs, ensuring they are completed to agreed dates.

What you’ll bring
· Given that this is an R&D role we require applicants to hold at least 3 years’ practical experience in electrical engineering technical support roles, preferably in roles involving product design, development, and enhancement within an R&D environment.
· Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, particularly in the context of product design, testing, and manufacturing.
· Expertise in CAD software.
· We undertake regular drug and alcohol testing as part of our workplace Health & Safety requirements. You may be required to pass a pre-employment medical and drugs test.
· You may be required to travel for work, including overnight stays, both within New Zealand and internationally. Where applicable, a travel allowance will be provided in line with our policy.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
