About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Geologist who is looking for their next challenge, enjoys site work and being involved in large, complex projects which we have in the pipeline.

You'll join a team of engineering geologists and geotechnical engineers where you will be supported by our Geotechnical leadership to deliver great outcomes on projects relating to water and wastewater infrastructure as well as transportation infrastructure.

You’ll be involved in a range of civil engineering projects where you will use your technical knowledge and expertise ranging from construction management, monitoring and surveillance to quality assurance (MSQA) activities.

A typical week could see you planning and undertaking site investigations, carrying out geotechnical assessments, designing retaining walls, foundations, slope stabilisation measures, ground improvements or pile design, delivering detailed technical engineering reports and managing the construction of these structures. You'll assist the team with providing advice to clients and input to successful project solutions.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Scope, plan, programme, and co-ordinate ground investigations to obtain geological information to inform design and construction of projects.
  • Analyse soil, rock, groundwater, and other geologic data to determine their impact on engineering projects.
  • Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and reports for project planning and design.
  • Advise on the suitability of sites for various construction projects based on geological findings.
  • Develop risk assessments related to geological hazards like landslides, earthquakes, and subsidence.
  • Monitor and interpret data from field investigations and laboratory tests.
  • Collaborate with engineers and planners to incorporate geological data into project designs.
  • Maintain communication and develop ongoing contacts with clients as required.
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with local contractors, and team members.
  • Support younger members of the team.

Qualifications

About you

To be successful for this role you'll need:

To be a degree qualified Geotechnical engineer or Engineering Geologist with 3 years’ experience and working towards CPEng or PEngGeol, ideally in the engineering consulting and contracting industries. Previous experience in New Zealand, Australia or Asia Pacific would be useful. You'll have a strong background in design, ideally in the bridging, transportation and water sectors as well as contract management and MSQA activities and be familiar with industry standard design software.
