About the Role

Wairoa Hospital & Health Centre plays a vital role in delivering healthcare to our rural community. We’re looking for an Enrolled Nurse to join our dedicated outpatient team, where your skills and compassion will make a real impact.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of outpatient clinics and provide hands-on clinical assistance.
  • Contribute to patient assessments and support the efficient running of clinics alongside visiting clinicians.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including senior nurses and allied health professionals.
  • Deliver culturally safe care, with a strong commitment to equity and improving health outcomes for Māori.
  • Be part of a supportive and close-knit team in a rural hospital setting.
  • Gain experience in a diverse clinical environment across outpatient, inpatient, maternity, and community services.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our outpatient clinic at Wairoa Hospital & Health Centre is a small, dynamic team dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centred care to our rural community. We work closely with visiting specialists, general practitioners, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure seamless service delivery. The team is known for its supportive, collaborative approach and strong whanaungatanga, with a shared focus on improving health outcomes and ensuring equity of care for all, particularly for Māori whānau.

About you

We’re looking for an Enrolled Nurse who:

  • Holds a current Enrolled Nurse registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
  • Brings clinical competence and sound decision-making across a range of healthcare situations.
  • Communicates effectively and thrives in a team environment.
  • Is passionate about providing equitable, culturally appropriate care.

As a member of a small rural hospital team, you’ll occasionally work across other areas within the Wairoa Health Centre, including the emergency department, inpatient ward, maternity unit, and community services.
