This is where you come in!

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be a core member of an agile team, delivering software updates and technical changes to our product(s) that allows our customers to thrive and us to grow as we help them focus on their passion over admin. You’ll be an expert in working out how to best solve technical and delivery challenges and help your team and our technical leadership team where possible with planning and scoping technical strategic work as well as software design and product work.

You are part of our Client Growth team, and you will leverage your experience to work out the best way of validating solutions and getting value to customers quickly. You’ll promote our software standards and actively contribute to and improve on them where appropriate. You’ll identify where maintenance and technical debt are a problem (or going to be!) and make sure that these are addressed in the backlog or when we do related work.

Primarily, you’ll work as part of an agile team to deliver changes as prioritised by the product owner, based on the wider product, engineering or design needs.

What you'll bring.

  • 6+ years experience in software engineering or equivalent role with experience in building SaaS software

  • You’ll be an agile advocate and know the value in working in small iterations, reducing WIP, learning from experiments and seeing the value in DevOps principles

  • You’ll be experienced with and an advocate for delivery techniques that reduce risk such as feature flagging and partial deploys

  • Strong competency and experience with Mobile, .NET, JavaScript or API Design.

  • Experience working with IaaS platforms e.g. Azure/AWS

  • Team player, must be able to work with others around them

  • Demonstratable strong collaboration skills across product and engineering

  • Demonstratable strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to both translate technical concepts to less technical audiences where required as well as manage expectations of different stakeholders

  • Advocate for and default to collaborative programming techniques

  • Proven track record in coaching and mentoring more junior engineers around them

  • Empathetic skills and ability to provide constructive and understandable feedback to others

  • A natural curiosity and ability to problem solve

Nice to Haves

  • Experience working in a remote culture and familiar with asynchronous communication techniques

  • You’ll be experienced at using a wide variety of engineering tools and patterns to get functionality into users’ hands and quickly learn from it e.g. feature flagging, dark launching, branch by abstraction, A/B testing, metrics

  • Comfortable with architecting through iteration and experimentation

Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet ~60% of criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply when they check every box. So if you think you have what it takes but don't meet every single bullet point above, please still get in touch. We'd love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.
