Social Worker – Family Start (Fixed Term until June 2026)

We are looking for a creative and passionate Social Worker to join our supportive Family Start team at Te Kupenga, Avondale. This is a fixed-term role until June 2026.

About the Role
The Family Start programme is a highly evidence-based, intensive home-visiting service that works alongside families with children aged 0–5 years. Families can be referred from pregnancy until a baby is 12 months old.
This role supports parents with child development, health, education, and safety, while responding to a wide range of needs including trauma, mental health, addictions, parenting, and family relationships. ATWC recognises that families are the experts of their own lives, and we walk alongside them with holistic and culturally responsive support.
This position is eligible for Social Work Pay Equity based on a 37.5 hour working week.
What We’re Looking For
To be considered, you will need to have a Social Work qualification and be registered (or working towards registration) with the SWRB. You will also need to:
- Demonstrate cultural humility and uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles in all areas of practice
- Have experience working with children and families (preferred)
- Understand the impacts of trauma, family violence, addictions, and mental health (advantageous)
- Possess excellent communication skills – speakers of multiple languages are encouraged to apply
- Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand
