The Business Enablement division of KPMG is responsible for providing specialist services that support the business objectives and strategy of the firm. The Finance team provides financial administration support and resources to the five National offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch.
The opportunity:
- The Financial Accountant works as a member of the Finance team providing internal finance services to the Firm. The position is accountable to the Finance Manager for the provision of high-quality reporting.
Day to day you will:
- Financial Reporting: Support the production of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reports for the KPMG Executive & Board, ensuring high standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Statutory and Other Reporting: Prepare statutory financial statements, oversee quarterly bank reporting, compile KPMG Global operating statistics, and complete Department of Statistics returns. Produce cash flow forecasting to aid strategic decision-making.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee general ledger activities including balance sheet reconciliations and journal processing. Ensure accuracy and integrity in financial data management.
- Taxation: Prepare and file Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Budgeting: Contribute to the budgeting process, providing insights and data to aid in the preparation of budget forecasts and financial planning.
- Process Improvement: Monitor the effectiveness of internal processes and controls. Develop and implement solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of finance functions within the Auckland team.
- Ad-Hoc Finance Solutions: Address and manage ad-hoc financial issues as they arise. Provide robust debate and review of deliverables with the Finance Team, and manage urgent service requests efficiently.
About you:
- Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or equivalent and relevant professional qualification.
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, post tertiary qualification.
- Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in MS Office and SAP a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
- A team player with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
