About the role | Ko te mahi nei
You will be part of the fitness team responsible for providing fitness programmes, assessments and services. You will be the go-to person on the gym floor, actively engaging, supervising, and educating clients on techniques whilst they train.
Other aspects of the role include:
- Providing quality service equally to all our customers, with an understanding of diversity
- Creating tailored fitness programmes
- Responsible for keeping yourself and others safe while at work and ensuring our users have a clean, and tidy space to train by maintaining cleanliness of the equipment and the facility
- Communicating and building rapport with our customers to support engagement and participation
- Supporting day-to-day administrative activities
About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
- You will have the ability to communicate well with a diverse range of customers, verbal & written
- Be engaging, informative and take pride in helping others achieve their goals
- Can create a welcoming, inclusive and vibrant culture for all
- Hold a Level 4 fitness qualification or higher
- A current comprehensive first aid certificate is an advantage
Shortlisted candidates for this role will be required to attend a group-style assessment interview scheduled for Tuesday 2nd September 2025, at Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre.

Parakiore was a Ngāi Tūāhuriri hero renowned for his resilience, determination and agility.

- Hours of work: Various roles available across a range of days and hours, please select your preferred preferences when completing your application
- Location:If you are successful in securing a role based at Parakiore, your primary location will be 50 St Asaph Street. In the lead-up to the facility opening, you may be rostered at another Council facility as needed. Some flexibility around your work schedule may be required during this pre-opening period.
- Salary: Starting from $28.95 per hour. The full range will be confirmed during the interview process.
