We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Foreman in Auckland with a solid background in hands-on building and a passion for developing apprentices. In this role, you will report to the Site Manager and be responsible for supervising site operations, ensuring quality workmanship, coordinating trades, and guiding apprentices to become the next generation of capable builders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day site operations to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to required standards.
Supervise and coordinate the work of tradespeople, apprentices, and subcontractors.
Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations and company standards.
Use your building experience to provide hands-on support where needed.
Mentor, train, and assess apprentices, fostering their professional growth and trade skills.
Communicate effectively with site managers, clients, and suppliers.
Monitor site materials and equipment and assist with ordering as needed.
Identify and resolve issues on-site promptly to avoid project delays.
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a qualified builder with strong practical skills.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a foreman or supervisory role.
Experience training or mentoring apprentices on-site.
Solid understanding of construction methods, tools, and materials.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to multitask, plan ahead, and solve problems efficiently.
Current knowledge of building codes and health & safety regulations.
Full driver’s license and relevant construction certifications.
NZ Trade Qualification or equivalent (e.g., NZC Carpentry).
Site Safe Passport and First Aid Certificate.
