About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Painter Foreman to join our Dunedin team. This role combines hands-on painting expertise with team leadership to deliver high-quality finishes across a range of projects. You will be responsible for supervising painting crews, planning daily tasks, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring work is completed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor teams of painters and apprentices on-site
- Plan and allocate daily tasks to meet project deadlines and specifications
- Prepare surfaces and apply coatings including paints, stains, and protective finishes
- Conduct quality control checks and address any defects
- Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, and project progress
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Liaise with clients, site supervisors, and other trades to coordinate works
- Manage materials, tools, and equipment effectively
About You
You will bring:
- A trade qualification in Painting and Decorating (NZ Certificate or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years of painting experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Knowledge of modern coating systems and surface preparation methods
- Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
