We're looking for passionate and experienced Hard Ice Guides to join our team at Franz Josef Glacier Guides.
About the Role
As a Kaiārahi Kopaka / Hard Ice Guide, you'll lead guided glacier experiences on the Franz Josef Glacier, ensuring safety, environmental care, and unforgettable moments for our guests. You'll work in a dynamic alpine environment, using technical glacier travel skills, rope systems, and rescue techniques. This role also includes mentoring trainee guides and contributing to operational excellence both on and off the ice.
What You'll Bring
- NZMGA Hard Ice Guide Level 1 qualification (or higher)
- 50+ days of logged glacier guiding experience
- Current PHEC and Wilderness First Aid certification
- Strong technical skills in glacier travel, rope systems, and crevasse rescue
- Experience leading and mentoring team members
- A passion for the outdoors and delivering exceptional customer experiences
- An understanding of, or eagerness to learn, Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori
