Our kindergarten
Our beautiful kindergarten really is a hidden gem! Tucked away in the heart of Northcote Central, we have created an oasis amidst a rapidly growing suburb.
As an Enviroschool we work alongside our tamariki to help them become kaitiaki/guardians of Papatūānuku /our environment. Enjoy the colourful blooms, fruit and vegetable bounty the tamariki have sown, grown and harvested. Learning to refuse, reuse, recycle is an integral part of what we do here.
We are looking for an experienced Head Kaiako who is passionate about providing excellent learning experiences to our tamariki. You will need to be energetic and enthusiastic, driven by our play-based philosophy and have a strong emphasis on respect and cultural diversity. Balancing professional leadership with management of the day-to-day kindergarten operations and teaching duties means variety and intrinsic reward.
We are passionate about what we do, laying the foundations for tamariki essential life skills, and working alongside tamariki to encourage them to explore their interests and pursue the ideas that capture their imaginations. We believe kindergarten offers the best way to prepare tamariki for school and equip them for a lifetime of successful learning.
Our ideal candidate will also:
- have 5+ years' experience in an ECE environment, and hold a current practicing certificate
- experience working with diverse communities
- have demonstrable skills in Pedagogical leadership
- experience in leading a team, where collaboration and development is key
- strength in leading the Internal Evaluation cycle
- operational leadership perhaps having managed an early childhood centre.
- share the organisation's commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, informing and leading bicultural practice
- share our kindergarten's philosophy of care and respect for the natural environment and sustainability and incorporate this in to learning experiences for tamariki
- value the use of ICT as a teaching tool, utilising a range of available technological resources to extend tamariki learning and improve teaching practice
- have a strong focus on inclusiveness, recognising and valuing the rich diversity of the tamariki, whānau and local community
