About the Role
Come and join the supportive, hard-working team in our new purpose-built MAPU (Medical Assessment & Planning Unit) facility at Palmerston North hospital. MAPU is located alongside the Emergency Department (ED). MAPU is a dedicated area that accepts acute medical admissions from the ED.
We are looking for dedicated, compassionate people who are passionate about making a difference, who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, experience as an HCA would be an advantage.
The role is permanent 0.8FTE (32 hours a week) working rostered and rotating shifts- including weekends.
The role supports nursing staff in the delivering safe, high-quality and cost-effective care to patients. As an HCA you will contribute to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, assist in non-clinical tasks related to patient care. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is reliable, compassionate and enjoys working as part of a team in a busy healthcare setting.

About you:
As our Health Care Assistant, you will bring:
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences.
- Physical capability to perform a broad range of manual tasks, including hygiene care, mobility support, and environmental cleanliness.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Willingness to learn and adapt, with enthusiasm for delivering high-quality care and support.
