About the role

We are on the lookout for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Business Partner to join our team based in our Dunsandel manufacturing site. You'll be stepping into a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, leading key projects, shaping culture and driving real impact across a diverse, high-performing site.

You’ll bring your strengths and expertise to support our people on their ‘Synlait Safe’ journey, with a focus on building capability through practical, solution-focused training and continuous improvement. This is a key role within our business, suited to either a seasoned Health and Safety professional or someone with operational experience in complex manufacturing or high-hazard environments.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Support the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing to implement the Synlait Safe strategy and annual plan throughout the business
  • Lead the implementation of specific training programmes within your portfolio
  • Provide expert advice and support to address specific hazards and risks across the business
  • Champion change and culture transformation

This role calls for strong communication and engagement skills, a solid understanding of critical risk management, and the ability to provide impactful leadership to enhance safety and wellbeing performance.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role will require …

  • You will ideally have 3 to 5 years' experience in health and safety, with a background in safety systems, change leadership, and partnering.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or high hazard facility.
  • A tertiary education in Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, Post Grad or Diploma) is highly regarded in this role.
  • Ability to build strong and enduring relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act (2015) and Regulations.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
