Be part of exciting growth within Consentium, the K inga Ora Building Consent Authority (BCA) which provides consenting services exclusively to K inga Ora. The team takes great pride in receiving the Innovator of the Year Award at the Building Officials Institute of NZ Excellence Awards.
We have ambitious goals and with our own accredited BCA we can focus on providing homes at pace, leveraging scale and quality. We target residential and commercial state house builds as well as a comprehensive nationwide retrofit programme with an efficient, paperless, and compliant process.
You'll be working with a group of talented new and experienced building control officers with a dynamic and fresh culture. There's opportunities at all levels of building regulatory control including quality assurance, administration, consent processing and inspection domains.
The role is responsible for processing of documentation for building consent applications to ensure residential building work e.g. R1 to R3 is compliant with the NZ Building Code.
As a national role, there is flexibility on work location for these roles to be based in any of K inga Ora's regional offices.
Ng pumanawatanga ou - What you will bring
With your current technical building construction and / or processing, inspections and CCC working knowledge, you will demonstrate:
- A relevant building and or design qualification satisfying NZ Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006 - Reg 18 requirements
- A current RES 3 Technical Competency as assessed using the National Competency Assessment System or equivalent
- Experience working in a regulatory, social housing environment or customer-focused role
- Understanding of the philosophy and principles of building design and construction
- Understanding and knowledge of building products and methods
- Knowledge and skill in applying the Building Act 2004 (the Act), the Building Code, and any other applicable regulations under the Act
- Ability to communicate with internal and external persons
- Ability to develop and maintain partnership-driven relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the building sector and iwi
- Ability to comply with the BCA's policies, procedures, and systems
