We're looking for a Junior Service Desk Officer to join our IT team and be the first point of contact for staff needing technical support in this full-time two-year fixed-term position

About the Role - This is a two-year fixed-term position. In this role, you'll provide first-level IT assistance via phone, email, and in-person interactions, helping resolve routine issues and ensuring staff have the tools they need to work efficiently. You'll be responsible for logging and tracking service requests, assisting with user account setup, performing basic device configurations, and maintaining accurate IT asset records.
You'll follow established IT support processes, escalate more complex issues when needed, and play a key role in keeping our IT services running smoothly. A strong focus on providing friendly, timely, and professional support is essential.
Do you have what it takes? - This is a busy and varied role with opportunities to grow your skills. In addition to the core responsibilities, you'll collaborate with staff and management to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues, monitor the service desk queue to ensure efficient triaging of incoming requests and assist in maintaining and managing hardware inventory, including tracking, restocking, and asset record-keeping. You will also support communication tools and end-user devices as part of your day-to-day tasks.
About You - You are a team player with strong communication skills and a passion for IT support. Ideally, you will have:
- Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and troubleshooting techniques
- Basic experience with Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and SaaS applications used in modern workplaces
- A basic understanding of networking concepts like IP addressing, Wi-Fi, and hybrid LAN/WAN/cloud environments
- Familiarity with service desk or ticketing systems for call logging and issue tracking
- Awareness of IT service management principles and standard support practices
- Introductory experience with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) or Active Directory for user and device management
Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, therefore must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa. In terms of residence class visa applications, priority will be given where the applicant is in New Zealand.
The salary range for this position is between FTE $58,950 and FTE $65,500 and the appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates.
