As Junior Sous Chef you are to assist our Head Chef with day-to-day management and performance of the kitchen including but not limited to:
- Wellbeing and management of the kitchen team.
- Ensuring that the team under your supervision perform their roles according to the Executive Chef and to the requirements of your job description.
- You are required to aid in the progression of dishes through R&D.
- You will also have the responsibility of maintaining and overseeing the Amisfield Food kitchen and surrounding area cleanliness and organisation.
- Leading efficiently and effectively through understanding of all kitchen operations, from food preparation to delivery of end product e.g. (portion management, quality control, food hygiene, cost control, and guest satisfaction)
- Assist with service when required
- Help maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers ensuring that produce/products are of the highest quality
- Help document recipes
- Ensure effective communication with the Front of House team
- Act as an ambassador for Amisfield, maintaining the quality and brand positioning at all times
About you:
- Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role, in a Michelin Star or Hatted establishment or
- A culinary qualification from a reputable culinary school
- Confidence to help lead a team and the ability to produce consistently high quality dishes
- Comfortable working in an open kitchen environment and interacting with guests
- Willingness to work hard and as part of a team
- Excellent time management and the ability to stay calm within a busy, demanding kitchen environment
- Passion for New Zealand cuisine and an understanding of local/seasonal produce
- 6 months relevant experience preferred, ideally with NZ cuisine

Pay: $32.00 – $34.00 per hour
