Join ANZCO Foods as a Laboratory Technician working at our Eltham site. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager and working with a small but enthusiastic laboratory team, the position is on day shift which includes a weekend rotational roster.
In this role you will provide quality Laboratory technical assistance which meets all ANZCO Foods standards and compliance requirements. We are ideally looking for a person who is currently qualified to act in the "Key Technical Person" function in support of the Laboratory' s microbiology accreditation and to support the Laboratory Manager.
Role responsibilities:
- Perform sampling of carcasses, meat cuts, offal, blood and meat products, as well as microbiological tests of these samples (Eltham & Manawatu plants, and other external clients).
- Perform hygiene swabbing and analysis
- Potable water sampling and analysis
- Sampling and testing of caustic baths, boiler and cooling tower water.
- Effluent sampling and analysis
- Chlorine monitoring of plant water
- Preparation of test media, consumables and preparation of analytical reagents
- Responsible for equipment maintenance and calibration
- Thermometer calibrations
- Tenderometer testing
- Quality control monitoring and system review
- Inform the Laboratory Manager of any discrepancies with tests, equipment calibration or quality controls
- Compilation and review of analytical reports
Skills and experience we are looking for:
- A proactive and focused approach to the tasks and responsibilities associated with the role.
- An extensive knowledge of the regulatory requirements of the meat processing laboratory environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, motivated with an enthusiastic outlook
- Ability and willingness to persevere with both challenging and routine tasks
