About the role:
- Southland Hospital has modern facilities and offers exciting opportunities
- The Southland Hospital Ophthalmology department offers outpatients, elective and acute care to people in the wider Southland region, encompassing Invercargill, Queenstown, Gore, Te Anau and environs. Each year the department sees approximately 10,000 patients
- Our medium hospital size brings friendliness to the work environment
- The hospital campus includes the Southland division of the Otago School of Medicine
- Supportive team based working practice (working in teams with small groups of doctors and nurses)

About you
Our ideal candidate will:
- have registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
- have a minimum of two years post qualification experience
- have an an interest in RMO's
- be keen to further develop your skills in the area of Ophthalmology
- need to have registrar experience in this field to be able to apply for the training programme.
It is requirement of the NZ Medical Council that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
