About the Role
The Nurse Coordinator - Supported First Year of Practice programme (programme formerly known as Nurse Entry to Practice - NETP programme) and Cultural Support role is pivotal in providing the cultural support to the workstreams in the Workforce and Practice Development team. Based in Wellington, the role works collaboratively across the district with the Nurse Coordinator Supported First Year of Practice to support graduates to complete all aspects of the SFYP programme and to support Māori and Pacific nursing workforce. The focus of this role is to:
- Leadership to recruitment, orientate and work closely with the Clinical Coaches, graduates, preceptors and managers to support graduate workforce development
- increase recruitment of Māori and Pacific graduate nurses
- support NETP graduates across the District
- support Māori and Pacific nurses completing their postgraduate papers across the District
About the Team/Service
The Workforce and Practice Development Unit (W&PDU) supports the District Chief Nurse, Nurse Directors, and Director of Midwifery across the District. The W&PDU provides leadership and support for undergraduate, pre-registration, postgraduate and ongoing learning for nurses across the District and Region. Professional development is an important workforce focus across primary, secondary and tertiary services; as is developing, managing and improving processes and systems to optimise workforce contribution and resilience to ensure quality patient outcomes.
About you
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse with a demonstrated commitment to education, supporting Māori and Pacific graduate nurses, and workforce development. Attributes include:
- Proven experience in developing Māori and Pacific graduate nurses and supporting nurses in their professional development opportunities
- Strong organisational and planning capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- A detail-oriented approach with a focus on quality and continuous improvement
