About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Nurse Educator fixed term cover for a secondment in our health of the older person wards 4 & 5. We are looking for a candidate with strong focus on teamwork and a commitment to excellent standards of nursing care, flexible and dynamic Nurse Educator to join our team. This role will be rostered weekdays.

The Nurse Educator (NE) will provide leadership in the clinical environment to bring about practice improvements and ensure ever higher levels of safe and competent practice.

Supporting change implementation is an important aspect of this role. The environment is one of continuing change. The NE role needs to be an advocate for the organisation - s strategic direction and change programme, providing interdisciplinary education that enables the change.

The Nurse Educator will be an expert in areas of educational delivery, facilitation of education by specialists and work with the nursing portfolio leader to assess the educational needs of the nursing portfolio. The salary range for this role is NZNO collective agreement Senior Designated Nurses Grade 1 $114,025 - $121,444.

This role is critical in ensuring and maintaining essential nursing standards and leading the implementation of nursing education, change and skill development.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The ORA inpatient service is provided on the Kenepuru campus and is currently configured with 24 beds in Ward 4, 24 beds in Ward 5 Health of the older person. Health of the older person provides specialised assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for older people.

This role will work from our Health of the older person wards (HOP)

About you

  • Passionate about Gerontology and vulnerable patient groups
  • Strong communication skills
  • Resilient
  • Current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Experience in Medical and Gerontology nursing, extensive nursing experience and knowledge
  • Adult and contemporary learning techniques
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification or study
  • Desirable - NZRC qualification/instructor accreditation
  • High quality care for the patient/client/whanau
