What can I expect?
As a Passenger Operator, you will be the face of our rail services, ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of our passengers. Your role is pivotal in delivering outstanding customer service; you will be answering customer queries, managing snapper/ticket revenue collection, and providing essential information to our passengers.
We are seeking part time Passenger Operators to work approx. 20 hours each week between Monday and Friday. and the potential to pick up extra shifts or weekend work by mutual agreement.

  • Excellent communication skills: Interacting with a diverse range of individuals is something you enjoy. Your exceptional communication skills enable you to connect with people from all walks of life.
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service and safety: Delivering outstanding customer service is your priority, and ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers is non-negotiable to you.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities: When faced with unexpected situations, your calm demeanour and problem-solving skills shine through. You understand that our customers rely on us for assistance, and your ability to think on your feet and remain empathetic makes all the difference.
  • Tech-savviness: You're comfortable using smartphones as part of your role, and your numeracy skills help with tasks such as counting passenger numbers and handling fares.
It's important to note that our recruitment processes include medical assessments, drug and alcohol testing, police and licence checks, as well as right to work verifications. These positions require the permanent right to work in New Zealand. If you are selected, you must be available to start training on the 14 August 2025
