Ngā Kete Mātauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust is seeking a values-driven, community-minded Peer-led Activity Kaimahi to join our Kā Whetū Ora team and build relationships with Whaiora based on a shared experience of recovery.

Kā Whetū Ora is a peer-led, kaupapa Māori Activity Centre, day programme supporting adults (18+) to strengthen all areas of wellbeing through meaningful, inclusive activities. The Peer-led Activity Kaimahi will support Tāngata whaiora to explore their own wellbeing journey through peer support and activities such as life skills, creative expression, connection, and personal growth.

Seeking:

  • Experience in trauma informed care
  • A commitment to supporting equity for Māori & upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Clear communication and thorough organizational skills
  • The ability to be comfortable facilitating, or assisting Tāngata whaiora to facilitate group activities
  • A current full driver’s license
  • A passion for championing diversity and inclusivityThis is a peer led position which means working in mutual partnership with Tāngata whaiora and authentically fostering mutual learning, growth, hope and autonomy on all levels with those you are walking beside.

    Qualifications in Mental Health and addictions or experience in peer support work is desirable. The learnings you’ve gained from your own Mental Health or Addiction experiences and comfort holding space for others on a recovery journey is your best asset. Training will be provided. Part time employment options and flexible hours are available.
