About the Role

As the Activity Room Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Activity Room (the licensed early childhood space), ensuring it provides a warm and engaging environment for our young patients. Your responsibilities would include:
- Develop, implement and document a variety of fun and educational activities that cater to the diverse needs and interests of children from infants to 16 years old
- Create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating activity room that encourages exploration and creativity
- Ensure we are effectively providing experiences that support learning outcomes for children, in relation to core curriculum areas
- Design captivating wall displays and provocations that inspire curiosity and engagement, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere that enhances the children - s experience
- Work closely with parents to provide guidance and strategies that support their child - s development and emotional well being during their hospital stay, promoting healing and strengthening family bonds
- Coordinate weekly visits and facilitate interactions from therapy dogs to brighten the spirits of young patients, promoting comfort, joy and emotional support
- Collaborate with Play Specialists to support their efforts in providing therapeutic play experiences for children, ensuring a holistic approach to care that addresses emotional and developmental need
- This role gives you the opportunity to make meaningful changes, establish and implement innovative programs, and conduct curriculum implementation and review, to continuously enhance the quality of activities offered
About You
We prefer candidates with experience in hospital play, but if you are a qualified early childhood teacher with a Level 7 qualification and believe you possess the necessary skills, we encourage you to apply!

- A qualified Early Childhood Teacher with teacher registration
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A creative mindset and a passion for working with children
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Warm and sensitive interpersonal skills to relate to children and families
