About the role
Our Pharmacy Department at Dunedin Hospital is seeking a positive and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and supportive team on a full-time, fixed-term basis.
The Pharmacy service provides a full clinical and operational service to Dunedin Hospital. We provide a wide range of clinical services encompassing both generalist and specialist skills so there is no better place to move your career forward. In this environment, you will be encouraged to have a go at everything, which will both challenge and extend your experience and skills.
The role will include:
- stock control
- ward supply
- in and outpatient dispensing
- non-sterile compounding
- assisting in the general day to day running of the dispensary.

About you
Hospital experience is preferred although not essential, and you will possess strong time management, planning, and organisational skills. Naturally, you will be an excellent communicator, and a trusted and positive team player. It is also essential you can pick things up quickly, perform in an accurate and precise manner and work well within a diverse and ever-changing environment.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have:
- an appropriate New Zealand recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification
- the demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
- excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
- the ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
- high levels of personal and professional integrity
- competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.

Salary range
This Pharmacy Technician role belongs to the APEX Pharmacy Collective Agreement and falls between Step 3 ($72,074) and Step 7 ($86719) p.a. pro-rata and KiwiSaver
