Procurement Business Partner - Infrastructure Asset Management & Operations

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity   

As a Procurement Business Partner, you’ll be the strategic lead for procurement across our Infrastructure Asset Management function. You’ll work across the full procurement lifecycle, to develop and implement commercial, procurement and supply chain strategies that support business goals and deliver value for money.

You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across Transport Services business group to understand their business challenges and objectives and lead the development and delivery of commercial strategies which support the achievement of their strategic goals and deliver value of money outcomes for NZTA in an effective and efficient way. You will develop and plan their procurement activity in collaboration with the Procurement Delivery team and other teams within the Procurement team as necessary.

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $190,000 - $250,000 commensurate to skills and experience.

Our ideally candidate will have some or all of the following –

• Proven experience in commercial management, procurement, category management, or business partnering roles
• Excellent knowledge of infrastructure 
• Strong understanding of NZ Government procurement policies and public sector context
• Expertise in contract and supplier management, commercial acumen, and financial analysis
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills
• Expertise in all aspects of contract and supplier management

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public service.

The Procurement function at NZTA is responsible for planning, sourcing, and managing the supply of external resources to NZTA. Procurement is an essential part of how NZTA delivers our critical business functions to support Te Kāpehu, our strategic direction. Many functions of NZTA are performed, in full or part, using external suppliers and we are one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest public sector procuring agencies. NZTA is not only responsible for its own procurement requirements, but it also leads procurement practice across much of the land transport sector.
