About the opportunity
As our Production Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of our Nayland Road Packhouse. Your focus will be on building team capability, optimizing processes, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll lead a talented team of supervisors and staff, ensuring production efficiency, quality, and safety while supporting a high-performance, collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, coaching, and developing supervisors and team members to foster an empowered, high-performing packhouse team.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing workflows, eliminating bottlenecks, and implementing best practices.
- Planning and managing resources, production schedules, and costs to consistently meet output and quality targets.
- Implementing change management strategies to embed new processes and systems smoothly.
- Ensuring operational compliance with food safety, hygiene, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Monitoring performance through KPIs, data analytics, and dashboards, making proactive, informed decisions.
- Building strong relationships with growers, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Leading by example in health and safety, embedding safe practices throughout the packhouse.
About You
As a strong leader with experience managing large teams, you inspire people to perform at their best by setting clear direction, developing capability, and fostering a culture of accountability. With a growth mindset and strong focus on continuous improvement, you have experience empowering teams to contribute ideas, take ownership, and turn improvements into real results. You’ll also demonstrate:
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven experience in production or operations management, ideally in food manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and successfully implement improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to make accurate decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of quality, hygiene, food safety, employment, and health & safety legislation.
