About the role
The Community Services & Facilities Group is an externally facing group of Selwyn District Council that facilitates and delivers community opportunities, experiences, services, and programmes to build the capacity, connection, and overall well-being of the community. The Sport and Recreation team is responsible for delivering world class recreation, sport and play outcomes for the Selwyn District's residents and visitors. Whether it's operating the Selwyn Sports Centre, Selwyn Aquatic Centre or delivering active recreation programmes and events to the public the Sport and Recreation team aims to keep everyone engaged in their physical and mental wellbeing journey.
Based at the modern Sports Centre facility in Rolleston, this is a casual position to support our popular holiday programmes and cover operational shifts at the Sports Centre.
As a Recreation Coordinator you will:
- Assist Senior Recreation Co-ordinators in the delivery of promotional activities to increase participation in recreation programmes and events delivered by the Sport and Recreation team.
- Support Facility Management to receive and respond in a timely and professional way to all enquiries, complaints, and issues, which may relate to facility bookings, events and/or programmes as and when required.
- Ensure all bookings are managed correctly using Council systems.
- Co-ordinate user group and hirer requirements and expectations in accordance with Selwyn Sports Centre operational policies and procedures (e.g., setting up and packing down activity equipment)
About you
Delivering outstanding service to our users, you'll manage customer enquiries and bookings with ease while coordinating the day-to-day activities of our sport, recreation, and fitness programmes.
- With a strong focus on safety, you'll play an active role in the set up, pack down, and smooth delivery of programmes.
- Passionate about sport and recreation, you'll help ensure our modern facility continues to meet the needs of a growing community.
- You'll bring experience in sport and recreation activities or events, with an understanding of programme planning and facility operations.
- A confident communicator, you enjoy engaging with people from all walks of life and building positive relationships.
- Most importantly, you're proactive, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
