Te Tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Regional Transport Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in leading and managing livestock and landside transport operations across assigned regions, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and alignment with Silver Fern Farms’ supply chain strategy.

The Regional Transport Manager will lead a small team of Transport Coordinators, and oversee day-to-day transport operations, foster relationships with carriers and contractors, and ensure our transport solutions deliver on performance, safety, and customer expectations. With a focus on continuous improvement, the role will champion innovation and best practice in logistics management.

This senior position requires someone who is not just a solid contributor, but who is a strategic thinker and can balance operational demands with long-term improvements, and work closely with site leadership, central supply chain teams, livestock field teams and external partners, all the while acting as a true leader within both the transport function and of their people.

We are recruiting for two Regional Transport Manager roles, each holding accountability for either the North Island or South Island. These roles can be based from any of the Silver Fern Farms Corporate Hub or Processing Sites.

Why This Role Matters

Transport is the backbone of our ability to deliver high-quality product to customers worldwide. By ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective transport operations, this role directly contributes to customer satisfaction, operational resilience, and the success of Silver Fern Farms as New Zealand’s leading food exporter.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You:

You’ll be someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing the complexity of logistics with a people-first approach. The ideal person for this role is a natural problem-solver who can influence and inspire others while delivering practical, commercially smart solutions. You’ll bring curiosity, resilience, and a drive to make things better every day.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Strong experience in transport, logistics, or supply chain management, ideally in FMCG, primary industry, or similar complex environments
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders – experience leading geographically dispersed team members would be beneficial.
  • Sound knowledge of transport compliance, safety standards, and industry regulations
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to drive operational improvements and efficiency gains
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach to challenges
  • The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver results
