Your mates reckon you could sell sand to the desert.
but here’s the thing — you don’t just sell, you know your S*!t.
You can read plans, walk a site, measure it up and see the finished job in your head before a shovel hits the ground.
This isn’t a role for a paper pusher or a smooth talker with no follow-through.
This is a role for someone who knows landscaping, construction and hardscaping inside out — and who’s hungry to own their patch.
At Cobble Kings, we’ve been at it for 25+ years. Family owned, kiwi through and through, with a rep for quality that lasts. If you’ve seen a cobbled street in Tauranga, then you’ve seen our work.
Our work’s everywhere — from backyards and patios to schools and big subdivisions. We’ve got our own trucks, bobcats and gear so jobs run smooth and you’re not selling false promises.
We don’t do half measures.
We don’t do “she’ll be right” quotes.
and we sure as hell don’t go hiding when things get hard.
About the role
This isn’t your stock-standard sales gig. It’s a role where you’re on the road one day, gumboots in the mud, checking access points, measuring up, and talking a customer through options. The next day you’re back in the office, pulling those measurements into a detailed quote or tender that’s tight, accurate, and ready to win the work.
You’ll build relationships across the industry — landscapers, architects, builders, councils, procurement officers — anyone who shapes how jobs get awarded. You’ll know when to listen, when to speak up, and when to back your expertise.
You’ll walk sites with a sharp eye for detail, not just ticking boxes but spotting challenges before they turn into dramas. You'll quantify everything properly — materials, labour, subs, plant — so the numbers are right the first time. no rework, no excuses.
You’ll own your pipeline end-to-end. First call to signed deal. Quotes out fast, tenders in complete, follow-ups tracked, conversations logged. You’ll keep things moving because momentum matters. And when a job lands, you’ll hand it over to ops with everything they need to hit the ground running.
This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, who can sell with confidence but also roll their sleeves up and do the technical side properly.
Who this is for
This is for someone who’s been in the trade world and gets it.
Maybe you’ve been on the tools and you’re ready to move into sales, or maybe you’ve been selling in construction supply and want a role where accuracy and trust actually matter.
You’ve got 3–5 years (or more) in landscaping, construction, or hardscaping. You can read plans without blinking, you know how to measure properly, and you don’t fluff numbers just to make a quote look pretty.
You’re confident fronting a client — whether it’s a procurement officer in a boardroom or a landscaper on site. You’re organised, self-driven, and you don’t need babysitting.
Most importantly, you’ve got that ownership mindset. You treat every quote like your name’s on it. You follow through without needing to be chased. You back the team and you hold yourself to a higher standard because that’s just how you work.
What you’ll get
You’ll get a role where you’re not boxed in. This is full-time, stable hours, and long-term — but it’s also one where you can shape how big you go.
You’ll have a pipeline that cuts across residential and commercial, from homeowners to schools to developers, so there’s always something to chase. You’ll have a team that’s actually got your back — ops that deliver what you sell, a brand with a rep that opens doors, and leadership that still says good morning.
You won’t be dealing with corporate fluff. no suits. no meetings that should’ve been an email. just a straight line to the people who matter.
And you’ll have room to grow — because we’re scaling sales and want someone who’s hungry to grow with us.
About us
We’re Cobble Kings. We started in 1997 with one mission — to do paving properly. no shortcuts, no bodgy work, no half-ass jobs that fall apart in a year. Just quality paving that looks good and lasts.
21 years on, that’s still what we stand for.
We’re still family-owned. We’re still local and we’ve built a rep for being the crew you call when you actually care about the result.
We’ve done patios and pool areas, courtyards and motifs, big subdivisions and schools. we’ve worked across Tauranga, Bop, Waikato, Taupō, and the Coromandel. Our own gear means we get s*!t done faster, without waiting on third parties to turn up.
We’ve got momentum. We’ve got the crew and we’ve got big plans — by 2030, we want to be nz’s most trusted Paving Company, helping 5,000 customers, powered by sharp salespeople, tight systems, and teams that run themselves.
Apply now
So here’s how this works. If you’re the real deal, we don’t want a cookie-cutter cv we want to see how you think, how you sell, and how you present yourself.
Send us your cv, and also record a short one-to-two minute video, in that video, show us something you’ve done that makes you proud. It could be a project you scoped, a tricky quote you nailed, or a deal you landed. Walk us through what you did and why it worked.
This is part of the role — reading instructions properly, problem-solving, and showing you can present. If you skip the video, you won’t get a callback.
If that sounds like too much, this isn’t the gig for you.
but if you’re sharp, if you care about quality, and if you’re ready to own your patch and grow with us — let’s talk.
