Use your change management and communications skills in a position that supports volunteers within Fire and Emergency NZ
Mo tenei turanga - about the role
As part of our volunteerism team, you will be working with a small team to support the Volunteer Engagement Model project, aiming to modernise volunteer agreements. The Senior Advisor Change Management will play a key role in in the project, leading change processes and implementation.
As part of a tight-knit team, you will build strong relationships with national headquarters teams, volunteers, and their support staff across the country to lead the adoption of change sought by the project. Use your communications skills to support the project, including in developing engagement and consultation documentation. In this varied role, you will also deliver change-focused workshops with our personnel (primarily volunteers) across the motu. This may require some travel.
This is a fixed term position until 30 June 2026. This position is based out of our NHQ office in Wellington, however for the right candidate, we would be open to some flexibility.

Hit the ground running in this fixed term position with your strong background in planning and delivering people change processes to tight timeframes within a project or programme environment. A qualification in change management or comparable experience leading change in a large or complex organisation would be highly advantageous for this position. This dynamic and fast paced role requires flexibility, resilience, and excellent prioritisation skills.
To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:
- Demonstrated change management experience and skills providing people side of change support for projects.
- Excellent writing skills, including experience preparing consultation or engagement proposals, and drafting a range of communications outputs.
- Working knowledge of the Prosci change management method and project management
- Demonstrable experience working with numerous and varied stakeholders including volunteers.
The salary range for this role is $114,663 - $127,404 (pro rata), dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
