- Seeking Senior Occupational Therapists to join our team at Te Whetu Tawera- permanent, full-time positions working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to join a small, dedicated team of therapists and be an important core member of the multidisciplinary team. Working alongside a range of people including kaiatawahi, consumer leaders, whanau/families, volunteers, health professionals and NGO staff this role is enriched by diverse perspectives coming together.
This is a challenging area of work requiring a proactive and enthusiastic person who has excellent interpersonal skills. The role also requires a commitment to teamwork, good organisational and time management skills.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions for Te Whetu Tawera (TWT) the 58-bed acute inpatient mental health.
- Work closely with families, taking a whaanau-centered approach to therapy
- Manage complex cases with advanced clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Provide mentorship and clinical leadership within the team
- Support service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care
- Participate in ongoing professional development and research activities
- Accreditations for wheeled mobility, specialised equipment and housing modifications. What We’re Looking For:
- Registered Occupational Therapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in paediatric Occupational Therapy or related settings
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills for managing complex cases
- Experience in clinical supervision, mentoring, and team leadership
- High standard of communication skills with colleagues and whanau
- Knowledge of best practices, service development, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Commitment to equity, innovation, and delivering high-quality healthcare
- Full, clean drivers licence

You will be able to use and develop your professional skills in assessment, goal setting and collaborative planning.
