Mō te tūranga | About the Role
In this key role in the bank, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Westpac New Zealand’s property portfolio within a defined region. This includes identifying market opportunities, overseeing lease negotiations and renewals, supporting acquisitions and managing lease terminations, and ensuring the effective management of all commercial property activities.
Working collaboratively with the other Senior Property Manager, this role takes ownership of tenant and client relationship management, cost control and income growth, leasing documentation, regulatory compliance (including health and safety), and the preparation of accurate budgets, reconciliations and management reports. A strong focus on continuous improvement, a high level of business acumen and customer experience is essential.
The Senior Property Manager also supports the Facilities Management team by ensuring clarity of roles, responsibilities, and budgets across all operational service contracts (e.g maintenance, cleaning, security, landscaping). Close liaison with Finance team is required to ensure accurate financial reporting, governance documentation and alignment on all tenancy and property matters.
This role plays a key part in aligning property decisions with Westpac’s strategic objectives, supporting capital works delivery, and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
  • 8+ years’ experience in commercial property management or a closely related field
  • Proven experience in lease negotiations, stakeholder engagement, and managing large, complex property portfolios
  • Previous experience in a corporate environment with exposure to branch networks and the broader property market
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiating skills to ensure value for money for our shareholders
  • Experience in property roles within financial institutions, large corporates or telecommunications or similarly structured industries.
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Customer focused mindset with a proactive and professional approach
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
