Are you an experienced and passionate registered Social Worker looking to take the next step in your career? Our Acute Community Mental Health Services are expanding, and we are excited to offer a full-time, permanent role to a dedicated clinician who wants to make a real difference.

Our service offers urgent and immediate support to adults who are acutely unwell. We provide acute intake and assessment, as well as home-based treatment services, across a variety of environments — including people’s homes, Community Mental Health Centres, Emergency Departments, and Police Stations. We work with a unique and growing multicultural population, ensuring that every day brings new challenges and learning opportunities.

About the Role

  • Deliver high-standard, culturally sensitive psychosocial assessments, interventions, and treatment planning.
  • Provide service user- and whaanau-centred care through recovery-focused, strengths-based, and evidence-informed practice.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, while also liaising with community agencies and other external partners.
  • Engage in crisis intervention, ongoing care coordination, health promotion activities, and early intervention.
  • Participate in clinical leadership, mentoring, professional supervision, service development, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities.

About You

  • Registered with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in mental health & addiction services, preferably with adults experiencing acute mental health needs.
  • Skilled in managing complex clinical situations, providing culturally safe and responsive care, and working in partnership with service users and their whaanau.
  • Committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable health outcomes.
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication skills, resilience, adaptability, and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Open to flexible working hours, as our service operates 24/7 (shift work required).
  • Have a full and current driver’s licence.

We Offer

  • A dynamic, supportive, and innovative team environment.
  • Ongoing opportunities for professional development and post-graduate study.
  • Opportunities to engage in clinical leadership, mentoring, supervision, and quality improvement projects.
  • Involvement in service development, clinical governance, and inter-sectoral collaboration.
  • A strong commitment to health equity, diversity, and culturally safe practice.
