About the Role

The Senior Technical Lead (Database) plays a key role in ensuring day-to-day technical decisions support both operational stability and project delivery. Operating across programmes and initiatives, the role provides deep technical expertise and guidance to ensure database solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with architectural standards and business needs. A key focus is on driving continuous improvement, embedding best practices, and ensuring technical decisions are robust, future-focused, and fit for purpose. This role works closely with architecture, delivery teams, and vendors to ensure high-quality outcomes that meet or exceed expectations.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Senior Technical Lead (Database) sits within the Digital Applications & Products function under the wider Digital Services group. Reporting into the Platform Manager Application Databases, this team is focused on reducing duplication and improving alignment across application and product teams, with a strong emphasis on maintaining stability, security, and reliability. The function delivers standard change and supports minor change alongside the Digital Delivery function, prioritising reliability and consistency across services. Teams are structured around the applications and products they support, enabling standardised processes and nationally consistent outcomes. Organised into service portfolios and domains, this structure ensures delivery is aligned to clinical and operational needs while advancing national standardisation efforts.

  • Preferred minimum of 5 years of experience in the optimisation and improvement of complex IT environments, driving technical initiatives in line with organisational standards and best practices.
  • Experienced ICT professional with a strong track record in technical leadership and providing expert guidance across complex IT environments.
