Description What you will be doing We are in search of an Airport Security Team Leader, in a permanent role to join our team. Our team is responsible for a wide range of security and safety tasks at Auckland Airport. This includes managing unattended bags to ensure compliance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations, which may involve covert operations. We maintain the integrity of the airside boundary fence and respond to incidents involving disorderly or intoxicated passengers, as well as assisting members of the public experiencing mental health issues, along with other incidents. We are seeking a strong team leader to provide guidance and leadership to a team of Coordinators. The hours for this role (while predominately Monday to Friday) alternate on a weekly basis with your fellow team leader between Mornings 0600-1500 and Afternoons 1430 – 2300.It is essential that you are available and committed to working this pattern to provide visibility and supervision across the team. The Skygate Security Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Skygate security team, including: Day to day operational leadership and motivation of the Skygate Security team Rostering and deployment of staff to demand Training development and initial investigation responsibilities Develop strong security partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, working alongside Border Agencies, Airlines, Ground Handlers, Retailers and other stakeholders to provide a safe environment to work and the travelling public to commute In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities, it is expected (given sufficient training and time and as a development opportunity) that the Skygate Security Team Leader will “step up” and cover for the Security Operations and Systems Manager in their absence when the occasion requires. To ensure your success in this role, you will need: A Qualification in Policing, Military, Security or Airport Operations or a combination of qualifications and experience Minimum 7 years’ experience in security or working in an operations environment and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a complex stakeholder environment Leadership skills with the ability to coach and provide feedback to senior managers Ability to build strong networks with key stakeholders Well-developed skills as a team contributor, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines Sound business writing and verbal communication skills, including well developed presentation skills Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels of the organisation Demonstrated success in applying influence and/ or negotiating to achieve a win/win outcome Ability to think strategically and cope with business complexity Understanding of commercial realities, and well-developed business acumen Sound working knowledge of relevant legal frameworks in New Zealand Apply today It’s our collaboration and passion that keep everything together.
